Your album and its first song are called Raoui. Can you tell me what this means?
It means 'storyteller'. The song goes 'I want a story/to forget my life/it’s very hard/ to forget my life'. It’s about someone wanting to escape the terrible reality of the war in Algeria.

Su álbum y su primer canción se llaman Raoui. ¿Me puede decir qué significa esto?
Significa 'cuentacuentos'. La canción va de 'Yo quiero una historia / de olvidar mi vida / que es muy dura /  olvidar mi vida'. Se trata de alguien que desea escapar de la terrible realidad de la guerra de Argelia.

Souad Massi  is an Algerian singer, songwriter and guitarist. She began her career performing in the Kabyle political rock band Atakor, before leaving the country following a series of death threats. In 1999, Massi performed at the Femmes d'Algerie concert in Paris, which led to a recording contract with Island Records.

It´s impossible to not fall in love with her voice and her music...

Souad Massi es una cantante argelina, compositora y guitarrista. Ella comenzó su carrera actuando en la cabila banda de rock político Atakor, antes de abandonar el país tras una serie de amenazas de muerte. Massi actúo en el concierto Femmes d'Algerie en París, lo que se tradujo en un contrato de grabación con Island Records.

Es imposible no enamorarse de su voz y su música...
